Charging at home is the easiest way to own an electric vehicle, and a Level 2 charger makes it fast enough for everyday driving. Home Run installs residential EV chargers and the circuits they need for homeowners in Covington, McDonough, Conyers and nearby Georgia communities.

Level 1 vs. Level 2 Charging

Level 1 charging uses a standard 120-volt outlet. It is slow, often adding only a few miles of range per hour. Level 2 charging uses a 240-volt circuit and commonly adds around 20 to 40 miles of range per hour, depending on your vehicle and the charger’s amperage. For most drivers, Level 2 means waking up to a full battery every morning.

What Goes Into an EV Charger Installation

  • A load calculation to confirm your panel and service can support the charger
  • A correctly sized 240-volt circuit. Chargers are continuous loads, so the circuit is sized above the charger’s rating. A 48-amp charger, for example, needs a 60-amp circuit
  • A hardwired wall charger or a NEMA 14-50 outlet for a plug-in charger
  • Weather-rated equipment for outdoor and driveway locations
  • Load management options when panel capacity is limited

Chargers and Locations

We install most major residential chargers, in garages, carports and outdoor walls near where you park. If you have two EVs, we can help plan a setup that shares available capacity between them.

EV Charger FAQs

Will I need a panel upgrade?

Not always. Many homes can add a Level 2 charger without an upgrade. A load calculation tells us, and a smaller circuit or load management device can sometimes avoid one. If an upgrade is needed, see electrical service upgrades.

Hardwired or plug-in?

Both work. Hardwired chargers can often deliver higher power, while a NEMA 14-50 outlet is flexible if you may change chargers later. We will help you choose.
