Outlets and switches get used every day, so they wear out, loosen and eventually fail. Home Run repairs, replaces and adds outlets and switches for homes in Covington, Conyers, McDonough and nearby Georgia communities, including GFCI, USB, dimmer and smart switch upgrades.

Signs an Outlet or Switch Needs Service

  • Plugs fall out easily or feel loose
  • An outlet or switch plate feels warm, is discolored or sparks
  • An outlet is dead, or a GFCI will not reset
  • A switch buzzes, flickers the lights or has to be jiggled
  • Two-prong outlets that will not accept modern three-prong plugs

Upgrades We Install

  • GFCI protection for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry areas, garages, crawl spaces and outdoor outlets
  • AFCI protection, which helps detect dangerous arcing in wiring
  • Tamper-resistant outlets for homes with young children
  • USB and USB-C outlets for kitchens, bedrooms and home offices
  • Dimmers and smart switches, including three-way and multi-location control
  • New outlets where you need them, including outdoor and garage outlets

Done Safely and to Code

Replacing a device looks simple, but the wrong outlet type, a missing ground or a loose connection can create a hazard. We match the device to the circuit, check for proper grounding and protection, and test every outlet and switch we install.

Outlet and Switch FAQs

Can I replace a two-prong outlet with a three-prong outlet?

Only if the outlet is properly grounded, or if it is protected by a GFCI and labeled as having no equipment ground. Simply swapping the outlet without one of these is unsafe.

Why does my GFCI outlet keep tripping?

Common causes are moisture in an outdoor box, a faulty appliance on the circuit or a worn-out GFCI. If it trips often, have the circuit checked.
